This week I am at WASTECON in sunny Phoenix, Arizona alongside my Rubicon colleagues on the Smart City team, Tyler Molinaro and Geoffrey Urbach.
I’ve noted previously on this blog that the waste and recycling industry in the United States was started by family-run businesses, and as such it has never lost its close sense of community. WASTECON, an annual event put on by the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), is one of the premier conferences on Rubicon’s events calendar. Whether I’m at a conference or installing Rubicon® technology in trucks, there’s a good chance I will bump into old friends or meet people who work, or are friends with, some of my connections in the waste and recycling industry. WASTECON is no exception, and getting to visit and share Rubicon’s technology developments for the fourth year in a row is extremely exciting for me!
At Rubicon our mission is to end waste, in all of its forms. This includes wasted time, wasted energy, and in the case of our smart city offering, wasted government resources.
Technology Demos
At WASTECON Tyler, Geoffrey, and I have tech demos planned with cities throughout the week. These demos are designed to demonstrate what our smart city technology suite can do, and how it can be beneficial for the cities with whom we aspire to partner.
While our schedules are packed this entire week, if you are at WASTECON you can find the Rubicon contingency in Booth 800 on the left-hand side of the Phoenix Convention Center as you first walk in. Stop by to receive a quick demo from one of us, or email me at samantha.podgorny@rubiconglobal.com to get on our calendar during the event or in the days immediately afterwards.
If you’re not at WASTECON this week, fear not. You can find a detailed overview of the RUBICONSmartCity™ product offering, which is designed to help city governments run more efficient, effective, and sustainable operations, resulting in reduced costs, improved service, and a better quality of life for city residents, on the smart city technology page of our website.
Rubicon’s National City Pilot Partnership Program
At Rubicon, we’re looking for local government partners to pilot our next-generation technology for improving Public Works Departments and their municipal waste and recycling collection fleets, street sweepers, snowplows, and other vehicles.
Over the last two years we have developed AI and machine learning technology to help cities leverage the power and reach of existing city-owned assets.
