With spring on its way, here at ReCollect we\u2019re looking ahead to the waste and recycling conference and tradeshow season.<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s right: We do our best to travel around North America spring through fall to stay up-to-date on the ideas, issues and trends driving the ever-changing waste and recycling industry.<\/span><\/p>\n

We also enjoy the opportunity to meet face-to-face with many of our clients and to learn from all of you.<\/span><\/p>\n

Carolina Recycling Association\u2019s 29<\/b>th<\/b> Annual Conference & Trade Show<\/b><\/h3>\n

March 18-21, 2019

\n* Visit ReCollect at CRA: <\/b>Meet Jenny English and Todd Mumford at Booth 119<\/span><\/p>\n

The 29<\/span>th<\/span> Annual Conference and Trade Show organized by the non-profit CRA (Carolina Recycling Association) to be held March 18-21 in Charleston promises to bring learning sessions, workshops, tours and networking \u2013 in the form of golf and \u201cafter dark\u201d rooftop fun in the Historic District \u2013 to Charleston March 18-21.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sessions focus on real-world solutions to trending and ongoing issues such as recycling contamination, handling RFPs and the bidding process, managing batteries and other household hazardous waste, and addressing sustainability in the healthcare industry. Tours will include a visit to Boeing\u2019s zero-waste manufacturing and waste-to-energy facilities.<\/span><\/p>\n

The CRA is a nonprofit organization that unites public and private entities in North and South Carolina in a shared effort to reduce waste and recycle.<\/span><\/p>\n

APWA Washington State Chapter Conference<\/b><\/h3>\n

April 23-26, 2019
\nTacoma, WA<\/b><\/p>\n

The annual conference for public works professionals in Washington State, to be held April 23-26 in Tacoma, will include educational sessions, an exhibit hall, Project of the Year awards and a chance for attendees to get moving while they network playing golf and three-on-three basketball.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hosted by the Washington State Chapter of the American Public Works Association, this year\u2019s spring show will include an educational lineup providing information on up-to-the-minute topics such as drones, autonomous vehicles and the importance of supporting diversity in the workplace.<\/span><\/p>\n

Waste Expo<\/b><\/h3>\n

Technology and innovation will be the underlying themes at WasteExpo, the annual event slated May 6-9 in Las Vegas. The event promises to unveil new ideas in bioconverters, big trucks and big data. Extolling an attendance of 14,000, with 609 exhibitors and over 60 educational sessions, WasteExpo, the flagship event organized by Waste360, provides four days of educational sessions (CEUs) and ample opportunity to stay abreast of the latest developments and products in the solid waste industry.<\/span><\/p>\n

Of particular note: Dr. Stuart Buckner, Ph. D., will present. With 30 years of organics management to his credit, Buckner is known for creating events where professionals convene to discuss sustainable organics solutions.<\/span><\/p>\n

2019 Summit for Recycling<\/b><\/h3>\n

June 9-11, 2019<\/strong>
\nPueblo, CO<\/b><\/p>\n

With a triple focus on recycling, preventing waste and composting, the annual summit organized by the Colorado Association for Recycling will celebrate its 30<\/span>th<\/span> year in 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

The summit rolls education sessions, presenters, business showcases, and site tours into one three-day event June 9-11 just south of Denver. The event also includes recycling awards, silent auction and opportunities for networking.<\/span><\/p>\n

While complete details for 2019 haven\u2019t been announced yet, the 2018 conference included 12 laser-focused round-table discussions, each dedicated to one aspect of recycling.<\/span><\/p>\n

California Resource Recovery Association\u2019s Annual Conference and Tradeshow<\/b><\/h3>\n

Aug. 11-14, 2019
\nRancho Mirage, CA<\/b><\/p>\n

Billed as one of the most \u201ccomprehensive and informative conferences dedicated to recycling and sustainable materials management in California and beyond,\u201d the California Resource Recovery Association\u2019s (CRRA) annual conference draws over 600 attendees and provides 30 educational sessions.<\/span><\/p>\n

This year\u2019s show, taking place Aug. 11-14 in Rancho Mirage, Calif., will take an especially deep and philosophical dive, focusing on how to create a \u201cculture of zero waste\u201d through identifying the underlying phenomena that shape human behavior related to resources and waste. Sessions will focus on climate change, zero waste programs, food rescue, Chinese import restrictions and international markets, keeping organics out of landfills, California (state) mandates, and illegal dumping, stormwater and marine debris.<\/span><\/p>\n

Of particular interest for young professionals is Speed Mentoring, an interactive event designed to connect seasoned attendees with the not-so-seasoned for information sharing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Resource Recycling Conference<\/b><\/h3>\n

The Resource Recycling Conference, a partnership between the National Recycling Coalition and The Recycling Partnership, is billed as a must-attend event for government officials, policy leaders and CEOs. In its ninth year, the conference will be held Aug. 26-28 in New Orleans. The educational lineup will include trends in materials processing, diversion-boosting tactics, talking points for interacting with legislators and market analysis.<\/span><\/p>\n

Oregon Refuse & Recycling Association Annual Conference<\/b><\/h3>\n

While the details for the 2019 conference haven\u2019t been announced yet, it\u2019s an important event for the hosting Oregon Refuse & Recycling Association (ORRA), a 200-member organization founded in 1965 to provide advocacy, education and more to its members.<\/span><\/p>\n

Texas Recycling Summit<\/b><\/h3>\n

Sept. 9-12, 2019
\nSan Antonio, TX<\/b><\/p>\n

The annual conference hosted by the nonprofit State of Texas Alliance for Recycling (STAR), the Texas Recycling Summit brings together a diverse group of recycling stakeholders from industry, government, academia and other sectors.<\/span><\/p>\n

While complete details about the 2019 Summit are still to come, the 2018 event hosted 230 attendees for networking events, educational sessions and exhibits.<\/span><\/p>\n

WasteCon<\/b><\/h3>\n

Likely the largest convergence of solid waste professionals on the continent, WasteCon lands in Phoenix Oct. 21-24 to bring four days of peer-to-peer networking and education sessions (CEUs) \u2013 plus ample opportunity for fun, according to SWANA (Solid Waste Association of North America), which organizes the annual event.<\/span><\/p>\n

WasteCon promises to address the big issue on everyone\u2019s minds: the challenges stemming from the 2018 Chinese waste import restrictions. Attendees will also hear about industry trends and innovations, and attention also will be given to rural issues, which sometimes get lost at larger solid waste venues.<\/span><\/p>\n

SWANA is a not-for-profit organization serving over 10,000 public and private sector members whose goal is to move the dial from solid waste management to resource management through education, advocacy and research.<\/span><\/p>\n

Solid Waste & Recycling Conference with Trade Show<\/b><\/h3>\n

Kicking off with fireworks over Lake George, the annual conference and trade show organized by The Federation of New York Solid Waste Associations will be held May 19-22 in Bolton Landing, NY.<\/span><\/p>\n

With more than 75 technical sessions covering broad-ranging topics from safety and disaster response planning to hard-to-handle materials management and the battle against contamination, the event connects government and industry leaders committed to solving the recycling issues of the day. Unique networking opportunities include group jogs, yoga, and karaoke.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Federation of New York Solid Waste Association, otherwise known as The Federation, brings together the New York State Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America, Association for Solid Waste Management, and the Association for Reduction, Reuse & Recycling.<\/span><\/p>\n
